Block Party! a playful performance for Public Spaces Touring in 2010
Choreographed by DTI Artistic Directors Robert Connor & Loretta Yurick and premiered in 2007, Block Party! It is a portable performance installation for public places, including indoors and outdoors, in parks, plazas and foyers. With a cast of six dazzling dancers and three musicians constructing & performing with giant-sized children’s blocks, this performance is a movable feast for the eyes and the senses, for the adult and the child (in you). Merging the worlds of dance, music and architecture, this Outdoor Spectacle will immerse you in a vibrant world of colour and play.
Set to explosive percussion & music played live by Robbie Harris and Friends, Dance Theatre of Ireland ‘s BLOCK PARTY takes place with Gigantic coloured Blocks creating designs more clever than a Rubik’s cube on pointe.
Innovative sculptor Andrew Clancy created the Blocks and dancers include include: Cosimo de Tommaso, Kathleen Doherty, Khyle Eccles, Mirjam Gurtner and Adam Murphy.
